Gary S. Tell
Over his nearly twenty-year career, Gary’s practice focused on ERISA’s fiduciary duty provisions, particularly as applied to retirement plan investments. He was an active litigator who handled complex cases in trial and appellate courts and also provided advice to plan sponsors and financial institutions. A frequent speaker at professional gatherings and contributor to legal journals, Gary was widely recognized for the distinction of his work and was honored in major industry publications such as Chambers USA, Legal 500, The Best Lawyers in America, and Washington, DC Super Lawyers. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gary was known, by colleagues and adversaries alike, for his kindness, courtesy and unfailing sense of humor, no matter the circumstances. Many described him as one of the nicest people they'd ever met.
Gary began his career at Groom and Nordberg and then served for four years at the Department of Labor. He spent most of his career at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, where he was a partner at the time of his passing. Gary passed away in 2011 at the age of 44 after a courageous battle with cancer.
